GMAST: Making a Difference
In a Low or Middle Income Country (LMIC) cleft lip and palate surgery can yield not only an improvement in form and function for the individual child (ability to eat, drink, speak, attend school, marry and work), but also benefits his or her family (inclusion in the community, return to work for parents) and can avoid significant lifelong disability for the child which translates into an improved economic future as they grow to become a contributing member of society.

We provide surgical and medical care for underserved communities. Life-changing operations are performed at zero cost for patient and patient families.
We teach surgical techniques, equipment instruction, and pre and post-operative practices to resident staff members and local medical students.
We network with the local people and communities to establish dialogue and working relationships which allow us to continue to sensitively serve these areas for years to come.
